black oak pipes
My black oak’s pipes are made from an oak which was buried in lakes for 5-6000 years, a wood that started its fossilization process. The substantial difference between briar and black oak is in the machining difficulty. The first one is more compact, whilst the second one tends to chip and it deserves greater attention during its production. Nevertheless, black oak has its strengths: it has a neutral flavor, so it is very easy to taste tobacco’s aroma, it does not need break-in and it is basically tireless. The best suited finishing, from an aesthetic point of view, is sandblasting. As for the classical and freehand ones, black oak’s pipes also have handmade mouthpieces
